The Family Brain helps parents stay on top of family life. To do that, we process the email and calendar information you choose to forward or connect. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, how our AI uses it, who else touches it, and how to get it deleted. If anything here is unclear, email us at [email protected].
The short version
- We only read the email you forward to your Family Brain address and the calendars you connect. Nothing else.
- We do not use your family's information to train AI models, and our AI provider is contractually prohibited from doing so.
- We never sell your data, and we never share it for advertising.
- You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by emailing [email protected].
Who this service is for
The Family Brain is a tool for parents and other adult account holders. Children do not have accounts, do not sign in, and never interact with the service directly. We process information about your children that appears in your own email and calendar — a school event, a doctor's appointment, a sports schedule — because you asked us to organize it for you. We do not collect information directly from children.
What we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and billing details when you sign up.
- Family details you enter — the names, schools, activities, and keyword tags you add so your briefing is relevant. We use age ranges, not birth dates, and we don't ask for sensitive identifiers.
- Email you forward — messages sent to your unique Family Brain address, including their attachments, processed to build your briefing.
- Calendar data you connect — events from a calendar you link, used to assemble your schedule.
How our AI works
We use AI to read the email and calendar information you give us and turn it into a clear briefing. The AI extracts the useful parts — dates, deadlines, to-dos — and writes them up in plain language.
We do not use any of your family's information to train AI models. Our AI provider, Anthropic, is contractually prohibited from training on your data under our data-processing agreement. Your information is used only to produce your briefings and to answer your questions.
Who we share data with
We don't sell your data and we don't share it for advertising. We do rely on a small set of named service providers to operate The Family Brain. None of them train AI on your data, and each handles only what it needs to do its job:
- Anthropic — AI processing (turning your email and calendar into briefings).
- Mailgun — email delivery (sending your briefings to your inbox).
- Stripe — billing and payments.
- Google — calendar connection, when you choose to link a Google calendar.
- Cloudflare — routing and security for inbound email and our websites.
How long we keep things
Raw emails are processed to build your briefing and then discarded — we don't keep a long-term copy of your inbox. The structured summaries we extract (the items that appear in your briefings) are kept for up to 90 days so you can look back, unless you delete them sooner. When you close your account, we delete your data as described below.
Deleting your data
You're in control of your information. To delete your account and all associated data, email [email protected] and we'll complete the deletion within 30 days. You can also ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you at the same address.
Your briefings go to you
Briefings are delivered only to the account holder's verified email address (and, on Premium, any additional adult delivery addresses you add yourself). We never send briefings to a child's address.
Children's privacy
Because The Family Brain is for adults and children don't use it, the service is not directed to children. We process information about children only as it appears in the email and calendar data you provide, and we apply our strictest retention and handling rules to it. If you believe a child has somehow provided us information directly, contact [email protected] and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date above, and we'll let you know by email before the change takes effect.
